Ekanda on Benefit Sharing Agreement

Chairman of Tuguba Tribe, Simon Ekanda has called on Chief Secretary, Sir Manasupe Zurenouc to launch a full scale investigation into the Department of Petroleum and Energy for alleged misuse of department funds.

This comes at the time when Zurenouc, in an earlier interview, clarified that his office is not responsible for disciplining non –performing public servants. Sir Manasupe clarified that the Department of Prime Minister and NEC only recommends to the line Ministers to discipline the department heads.

Mr Ekanda had wanted Sir Manasupe to discipline the Secretary for Department of Petroleum and Energy, and is now further demanding for an investigation.

Mr Ekanda said since the PNG LNG project his people have been deprived of their benefits. He claims millions of kina belonging to the landowners have been allegedly misused by the department and wants something to be done.
