Eastern Highlands Province is prepared to go to the polls.
On Thursday Electoral Commissioner Patilias Gamato cut ribbons to signify the distribution of polling materials for the eight electorates. Gamato was joined by members of the Inter-Departmental Election Committee (IDEC).
This included Chairman of IDEC, Isaac Lupari, PNG Defence Force Commander, Gilbert Toropo and Police Commissioner, Gari Baki.
Preparations for counting at the National Institute of Sports(NSI) has also begun.
From reports presented, Eastern Highlands has finalised all its details in conducting the polling to counting, and are confident in delivering fair and safe elections.
According to Electoral Commission Officials, ballot boxes have arrived in the province with other non–sensitive items. Preparations for counting have also begun at the National Sporting Institute.
According to local Electoral Officers, they are confident of delivering a successful polling, followed by counting before declarations.
Eastern Highlands has 8 electorates, Daulo, Goroka, Henganofi, Kainantu, Lufa, Obura Wonenara, Okapa and Ungai Bena.
