Education Act 1983 Under Review

National Education Department Acting Secretary, Dr Uke Kombra, has given his assurance the review of the Papua New Guinea Education Act 1983 is progressing well.

Dr Kombra said the review is consistent with legislative reform agendas set by the State which are to improve coordination and effectiveness of service delivery.

The National Education Department has acknowledged the support of the European Union Human Development Program and Technical Working Tea, for developing policy issues papers.

Dr Kombra says a report based on views and suggestions from consultants will be compiled, after which it will be handed to the legal draftsman for the bill to be amended.

The amendment bill will be presented to Parliament in the next sitting this year.
