East Sepik Kickboxing Tournament Turns Out Young Talent

A 15-year-old girl, who attends school at Yangoru District, was handpicked after a high-standard performance during the recent East Sepik Kickboxing tournament.

Zionny Nagemde is now on the East Sepik PNG Games Team and will undergo training with the rest of the athletes.

This was her first ever inaugural performance on stage.

During the ESP Kickboxing tournament, a young lady from Ynagoru in the East Sepik Province, at just 15 years of age, was handpicked straight from the stage after judges saw her great potential.

She was very fierce in the ring and with her body language towards her opponent. At only fifteen years of age, this marked the first ever onstage fight she has been part of.

She had only trained for three weeks and didn’t know of whether she would be selected or not. she’says it was her aim to win the match and represent her province and it was a dream come true.

she’said her dad was a kickboxer and she is now following his footsteps.

She is proud and happy to be on the team now and is looking forward to working with the rest of the athletes in training and also in representing Team East Sepik at the PNG games this year.

Her mum couldn’t be any happier as her daughter certainly has made a proud mum. she’says she knew from the start she had great potential in her and had the ability to go forward.

Zionny said she will now make use of all her spare time with attending all her training with the boxing coach and is looking forward to be part of the 6th PNG Games for the first time.
