DPM : NEC Induction Begins

An induction program began on Monday for officers inthe Department of Prime Minister and National Executive Council that deals withthe fundamentals oftheir work.

The week-long program is guided bythetheme ‘knowing and understanding public service and your organisation.’

A total of 51 officers are attending this new basic module. This is one ofthe ten components given out bythe Public Servants Workforce Development Program coordinated throughthe Department of Personal Management.

The induction focuses all areas of public servants’ basic operational procedures inthe office.

Topics covered includedthPNG System of GovernmentoCode of Ethics inthe public service and employmentobenefits and welfare and support among thers.

The program runs every 3 years, after recruitment and selection is completed and appointments to positions are done. Officers attending have been inthe public service between 2 to 16 years. The longer serving officers however had not gone through earlier inductions for various reasons.

Chief secretary Manasupe Zurenuoc is expected to attendthe induction atthe end ofthe week, whenthe program ends.
