Donald and Wanma’s High Performance at Shooting Competition

by Skola Sengi – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

PNG’s Shooting team has returned from their last off-shore training camp, with high hopes set for the Pacific Games in July.

Both Angus Donald and Danny Wanma finished at the top of their respective events after two-days of shotgun competition at Brisbane’s Gun Club.

Beatrice Geita also took out the top honors in the Women’s division.

Finishing fourth overall in the A-Grade, and first place in the C-Grade high gun division respectively, Angus Donald now sits as PNG’s Shooting Team’s highest ranked shooter.

The 2005 Arafura Junior Shooting champion continues his preparations alongside senior team members, Danny Wanma, who also finished in first place in the 30 target single barrel and second in the 50 target double barrel in the C-Grade division.

Beatrice Geita took out the top spot in the women’s division in the two-day shooting competition at Brisbane’s Gun Club. She is the only woman competing in the shotgun mixed and team event of the games.

She is joined by PNG’s best pistol shooters in the likes of Mel Donald and Nancy Geita, who have dominated the pistol events in previous years.

Team PNG remain unbeaten in the pistol events, but will be up against tough competition in the shotgun categories.

Although the new range equipment is yet to arrive, the shooting team will focus their training on their respective events in Port Moresby.
