Don Bosco Promotes PNG Cultures

Don Besco Technical School at Gabutu came alive,overthe weekend with its Beannual Cultural Show.

 

Twenty – four Cultural Groups put out colourful performances.

The Beannual Cultural Show is aimed at promoting different cultures apart fromthe Academic and Practical Technical Skills Training offered atthe School.

 

Since its inception in 1994,the Cultural Show has attracted huge crowds. To warm upthe start ofthe show, Goilala dancers teased by –standers withtheir preview.

 

The arena was kept alive,with various performances fromthe Highlands Region, New GuineaIslands, Momase and Southern Region. The men from Southern Highlands marched intothe arena withtheir powerful strides to take charge, whilethe Morobe, Madang and Sepik dancers show –casedtheir traditional style.

 

The East New Beitain dancers whip out a few performances withtheir ritual whip dance, whilethe Nothern Province dancers gracefully performedthe Betterfly dance, followed bythe famous Garamut beat that welcomedthe Manus dancers intothe arena.

 

Bet it wasthe West Papuan dancers that keptthe crowd attheir toes withtheir famous dance.

 

Students were pleased to participate and revivetheir culture and traditional practices.

 

The next Cultural Show will be held in 2016.
