Dolphins Strong Compared to 2012

Team captain of the Australian swim team, Cate Campbell, said comparisons toward the current dolphins team to the 2012 Olympic swim team are unnecessary, and what she explains to be a toxic culture, but rather more support and confidence should be shown to the swimmers.

Australia will see a squad of 38 swimmers, with the Olympics only a week away. Campbell said it is unfair to judge the current team of swimmers on the mistakes of the past, and to constantly bring up something that happened back then, as many of the current swimmers were not part of it.

Since the last Olympics in London, Campbell said the organisation and administration has changed as well as the athletes for the better, and that the current team of swimmers are very confident to pocket not one but a few medals compared to that of 2012.

Eight of the 38 member squad are ranked number one in the world.

Despite bringing home one gold medal from the 2012 London Olympics, Australia is strongly determined to pocket at least eight or nine gold medals at this year’s summer Olympics in Brazil.
