District Service Improvement Program Funds a Concern

By Fabian Hakalits – EMTV News, Port Moresby

The member for Kairuku-Hiri, Peter Isoaimo, says the cut in the District Service Improvement Program (DSIP) funds has affected delivery of some services in his electorate.

Kairuku-Hiri, being one of the largest electorates in the country, is struggling with funds being allocated to priority areas.

“The DSIP funds have not been drawn down in a timely fashion. What we used to enjoy before, the bigger amount is not enjoyed today,” he said.

Isoaimo said that the cut in the DSIP funds is an issue across the board, which is a challenge faced in terms of management capacity.

“It is an issue across the country and a challenge on how best we could manage the funds.

“Whatever little funds that are available, we have to use them properly, especially on priority areas. We have commitments also and we have to meet them,” he said.
