Dates Set for UPNG’s Resumption of the 2017 Academic Year

September 5 is the date when the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) is set to restart its academic year. Announcing this today, the UPNG Council consisting of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Albert Mellam, and Acting Chancellor, Dr. Nicholas Mann, along with management staff have established the following program:

– Arrival of students and completion of resumption form and registration for 2016 Semester 2, August 27-31

– Reconciliation Ceremony, September 2

– Resumption of classes, September 5

Professor Mellam said that final dates for March 2017 and Semester 1 will be given along with other academic dates once the UPNG senate receives government dates on Public Holidays.

Dr Mann also thanked the National Executive Council for approving K12 million to assist the university to repair damages.

Professor Mellam has said that students are required to fill in resumption forms when they return to campus. Forms can be picked up from the Open Flexibility Centre and must be sent to their respective schools.

Email addresses of schools have been placed on the form to allow students to send them before they return to class.

Dr. Mann said UPNG council looks forward to the return of students to begin the 2017 academic year.
