Cricket PNG has announced its finalised national representational teams, for the 2015 Pacific Games, and the ICC World Cup League.

The PNG ‘A’ team will participate at the Pacific Games, while the PNG Barramundis will take part in the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in July.

General Manager for Cricket PNG, Greg Campbell, said the next six months will be exciting for all teams.

“It’s a real exciting time, Cricket PNG is growing bigger and better in the country, and there will be a stage where we will have international competitions staged here.”

The Barramundis will see a slight change to the team, as Jack Vare resumes the captaincy role in Chris Amini’s absence.
Amini will captain the PNG A team at the Pacific Games.

National coach, Dipak Patel confirmed, Chris was still very much a part of the team. “Chris is still part of the squad, let’s not get that wrong,” said Patel.

Cricket PNG is also banking on the Pacific MMI Lewa’s for an additional gold medal at the Pacific Games. The Lewas have been in defining form over the past 12 months and are looking sharp to better their performance, and gain much more international recognition.
