Court dismissed Kiriwina Good-enough MP’s case

The Election petition against Kiriwinna Good-enough Member, Douglas Tomuriesa has been dismissed by the Court of Disputed Returns.

A three day trial for the case was heard in the electorate by Justice David Horthson, who dismissed allegations of bribery as, there was no evidence provided before him.

Respondent’s Lawyer, David Dotaona, said Mr Tomuriesa has enough evidence ready for court; however, there was not enough provided from the petitioner.

“Upon that, the judge exercised his discretion and stopped the trial, thereby dismissing the petition.

A joyous Tomuriesa arrived in Port Moresby on Thursday with his lawyer David Dotaona following the ruling in favour of him.

The first time MP owed his thanks to his supporters. He now looks forward to bringing development to his electorate.

Mr Tomuriesa says he does not have any grudges against the petitioner; and that he would like to see Mr Lauma work closely with him and the electorate for tangible development which the people have missed out in the last 37 years.

Runner-up in the 2012 Election, Leonard Lauma took up the case against the MP over twenty four allegations.

Mr Lauma now has fourteen days to appeal for the review in the Supreme Court.
