Counting delayed for Madang

Counting for the Madang Province will be delayed due to transportation problems encountered by the polling officials.

Officials on ground say many polling officials have been stranded at respective booths since Tuesday.

Returning officials for Middle Ramu and Usino Bundi are say it is believed the helicopter assistance by the Australian team has left the province.

Adolph Duangha and Steven Biko both called on the Electoral Commission to respond immediately to allow counting to proceed as scheduled.

They also expressed concerns of their officials’ welfare.

Counting is most likely to begin next week Tuesday.
