Cooperative Societies will now be able to pay a blanket fee that will coverthe cost of birth certificates.
The birth certificate is one ofthe requirements when a clan wants to register as anIntegratedLand:roup to form a Cooperative Society.
Togther withthe cost of registration,they will pay a blanket fee that will includethe cost of Berth Certificates. The current cost for a birth Certificate is K15 atthe Civil Registry Unit withinthe Department of Community Development.
Member for Ambunti Dreikikir told parliament it was costly for clan groups to register Cooperative Societies, let alone pay birth certificates for every individual inthe clan.
He askedthe Minister responsible if a standard fee could cover birth certificates too.
Minister responsible Loujaya Toni said her department supportsthe Cooperative Society concept;therefore,there is room to impose a blanket fee to includethe cost of Berth Certificates.
She assured parliament that her Department will put out a tentative calendar to all Districts informingthem ofthe Berth Certificate Decentralization Program.
