Compo Paid to Southern Highlands Accident Victim

The Angore people of Hela paid K100,000.00, 100 pigs, 19 goats and a cassowary as part of their compensation, to the family of the late Mason Philip, from Utipia village, Poroma in the Southern Highlands Province.

Late Philip was killed in a vehicle accident along the Mendi-Tari Highway.

The compensation presentation was made before Hela Provincial Police Commander, Michael Welly; Hela Peace Mediation Chairman, Mathew Mapiria and other leaders.

Mr Malex Au, who represented the Angore people, apologised to Exxon Mobil PNG, Trans Wonderland Limited, the National and Provincial Government’s and the general public at large, for the inconvenience caused by the roadblock.

Hela PPC Micaheal Welly told EMTV News, the compensation is the second in this festive season. He said the first was done earlier this month.

PPC Welly said better dialogue between Law and Order Committee members and the affected parties have concluded on a good note resulting in the compensation ceremony.
