Commander Kalaut: Police will ensure peace and order during Vote of No Confidence

NCD Police will be on high alert tomorrow to ensure the vote of No Confidence is conducted without any disruption.

NCD and Central Divisional Commander, Sylvester Kalaut, says police will be neutral in their operations and urged NCD residents to be cautious when moving around the city.

“From the police point of view, we will ensure peace and order is maintained during the Vote of No Confidence on the floor of parliament,” commander Kalaut said.

All mobile squad including police station commanders were briefed on the operation plan for tomorrow; commencing as early as 4am tomorrow.

Police are expected to set up road blocks and do vehicle inspections at the road leading into the main entrance of the National Parliament.

NCD Metropolitan Superintendent, Benjamin Turi, says the command is discouraging the idea of convoys or floats in the city during the Vote of No Confidence, because it may instigate unrest.

Last Friday, a huge crowd gathered outside the main gate of the Parliament House, but only a few were allowed in.

Turi warned the public that if police finds anyone who behaves disorderly he or she will be arrested and charged.

While the main focus will be around the parliament area, normal police operations in other parts of the city will continue as usual.

Meanwhile EMTV will be televising the live coverage of the Vote of No Confidence tomorrow morning at 10 O’clock.
