The NCD police hierarchy has condemned the violent attack on Monica Naggy, whilst responding to concerns raised on the bail release of the accused perpetrator, Sampson Ikasa.
The matter is due to return to the courts in the coming weeks, following the change of magistrates, with Magistrate John Kaumi appointed to hear the case.
Assistant Commissioner of Police and Divisional Commander of NCD and Central, Sylvester Kalaut, has denounced the act of violence perpetrated against women, assuring the public of his commitment to ensuring that cases of gender based violence are adequately responded to.
Speaking on the eve of Monica’s surgery, Commander Kalaut responded to concerns raised over the issuing of bail to the accused, who will face the courts for attempted murder.
While acknowledging the various challenges faced by police personnel in dealing with cases of family violence, Commander Kalaut emphasised the importance of having the full cooperation of all parties involved.
