The man behind the success of Steven Kari and Dika Toua, Paul Coffa, is in the country to look at weightlifting venues for the 2015 Pacific Games.
He met the 2015 Pacific Games Organizing Committee, including PNG Weightlifting President, Sir John Dawanincura.
Coffa is the Secretary General of the Oceania Weightlifting Federation.
He says PNG has more talents in weightlifting.
Coffa is also the Commonwealth Weightlifting General Secretary and 36 who have trained under him have won gold, including Steven Kari.
He was here in 1991 and has made a commitment to train Oceania weightlifters through the institution in Noumea where Dika Toua and Steven Kari are part of.
His reason to be in the country is to ensure PNG provides the best facility for the 2015 Pacific Games.
Also, with the participation of Australia and New Zealand, the event will be used as an olympic qualifier for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Coffa aims to get Steven Kari into the Olympics.
There are many emerging talents hoping to to take up the sport of weightlifting and the man in charge, Sir Jong Dawanincura, has been working around the clock to have fair representation of lifters from other centers.
Sir John was recently elected as vice president of the Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation at the 20th Commonwealth Games.
Sir John noted the support provided by Coffa and his wife, Lilly.
Coffa will be visiting weightlifters at Hanuabada village, PNGOC and the Games venues before going back to New Caledonia.
