Coalition For Change Advocating on Positive Mindsets

By Suli Suli, EMTV Cadet Journalist – Port Moresby

Since its establishment in 2008, “Coalition For Change” has been addressing the issue of violence against women and children in all levels of society including political, business and in communities.

With an aim to change the mindsets of individuals so women and children are respected and treated with dignity, the group has been carrying out awareness to address these issues. The organisation has been reaching out to schools in recent years.

Coalition For Change executive director, Girigi Moang, says they have been rolling out programs on empowering women, family advocacy and awareness on teenage dating. They have visited 4 schools in NCD and almost all the primary schools in the Motu Koita electorate.

Moang says most of Papua New Guinean mindsets cannot be changed. For this reason, CFC has been targeting the education of teenagers as the key to changing their mindsets now, and into the future. This is being done through awareness programs in schools and communities .
