City Mission officially launched its new youth program in Madang Province.
The launch sees City Mission continues to expand beyond Port Moresby and Lae.
The Australian Government is pleased to support City Mission’s expansion to Madang through its Youth Life Skills program for young men.
The Life Skills program runs for 18 months and targets young men, including those who have experienced substance abuse and poverty.
The training package includes basic literacy and numeracy skills, vocational training, counselling and mentoring.
City Mission invested K10 million over 16 years to support its operations in Port Moresby, Lae and now in Madang.
Last year alone, City Mission reached 886 young men in Port Moresby and Lae to help them break the cycle of street violence and crime.
The first 60 participants in Madang will learn basic literacy and numeracy skills, before advancing to vocational skills training and job placements.
