CIMC National Development Forum Opening

The Consultative Implementation & Monitoring Council began a three day National Development Forum in Port Moresby on Wednesday.

It follows on fromthe four Regional Forums held earlier this year.

The meeting was opened by Minister for National Planning and Rural DevelopmentoCharles Abel.

The National Forum was held atthe Parliament State Function Room at Parliament House.

It involved government and private sector partners, NGO’s, church groups, researchers, and civil society organizations from aroundthe country.

CIMC Executive Officer Wallis Yakam saidthe national forum follows fromthe regional forums to stimulate discussions and promote active participation inthe development process atthe district level.  

A wide range of topics will be discussed overthe three days ofthe forum, focused aroundthetheme “Revitalisingthe Districts of Papua New Guinea Achieving Effective Community Participation for Quality Sustainable Public Services inthe Districts.

Minister Abel said he will takethe discussions and recommendations, to Parliament.

The National Forum ends this Friday.
