The APEC PNG Coordination Authority held a briefing for foreign missions in the country, residential and non-residential, about preparations for the upcoming APEC 2018 Leaders Week.
The briefing addressed important concerns such as accommodation, transportation and security for the delegates from the 21 APEC economies during the week.
Just months away from the meet, foreign missions are already organising logistics for the arrival of their respective leaders and delegates later this year.
As host country and host city, preparations have been well underway for Port Moresby in anticipation for the APEC leaders and delegates to arrive in the country.
According to the APEC PNG Coordination Authority, accommodation is the most challenging aspect as Port Moresby understandably lacks the hotel space however, arrangements are underway to remedy this.
The authority is in talks with Carnival P&O to hire 3 of their cruise ships: the Pacific Jewel, the Sea Princess and the Pacific Explorer.
The cruise ships will cater to foreign media, an over flow of delegates as well as the CEO summit which will be hosted on the Pacific Explorer and which will see more than 500 CEO’s from businesses from APEC member economies.
