Catholic Professionals Society Condemns Prostitution

by Stanley Ove Jr – EM TV, Port Moresby

The Catholic Professionals Society of Papua New Guinea (CPSPNG) has come out against a newspaper report today on sex workers in the country, claiming they are losing their business to foreigners.

President Paul Harricknen said the country is blessed with natural resources, beauty and good opportunities.

Harricknen said the call by the sex workers and same-sex marriage lobby groups, is an insult to the conscience and dignity of Papua New Guineans.

“There are many decent opportunities to earn a living. Prostitution is only for those who are lazy and those who do not respect human dignity and have self-respect,” Harricknen said.

Harricknen said for those who push for recognition – from the government – of rights in prostitution and same sex marriages must consider that a human right can become a human wrong if people are not guided by a clear conscience.
