Capital Rugby Sevens Kicks Off

Capital Rugby Sevens started off at Monier Park today. There were 8 women’s teams and 10 men’s teams.

The Sevens Competition will run for 4 weeks with all teams vying to participate in the National Seven’s Tournament March.

Bava Park was all packed today with the first Capital 7’s competition. All teams were geared up to take to the fields and get the first feel of the 7’s competition for the year 2014.

The men’s 7’s competition was tough with teams like Harlequins, Spartans, and Southern the Chiefs, just to name a few. It was on with speed and agility on the field.

In the women’s competition, top teams Spartans are up against Defence and Nova in Pool A with University, Chiefs, Brothers, and Wanderers in Pool B.

Champion Spartans locked horns with Harlequins, defeating them 20 points to 5.  Spartans also defeated Defence women’s team 26 points to 5.

The finals will be played tomorrow.
