Capacity Problems Will Be Solved

By Fabian Hakalits – EMTV, Port Moresby

The people of Kiunga in Western Province have thanked PNG Air for increasing passenger and cargo capacity with their new aircraft.

Business houses and individuals told EMTV News that it is a relief from capacity problems with smaller aircrafts.

Business minded individuals like John Leri told EMTV News that daily operations have been affected, even making losses, because of cargo offloaded.

The inclusion of the new ATR 72-600 into the PNG Air aircraft fleet is a blessing to the people of Western Province. PNG Air operates regular flights into Daru, Kiunga and Tabubil.

Steven Makap told EMTV News that with a much bigger aircraft, this would boost business operations.

Kiunga is a corridor to Tabubil, where the OK Tedi Mine is located.

PNG Air Chief Operating Officer, Paul Abbot, told EMTV News the airline is only increasing capacity to allow the movement of passengers and cargo in and around Papua New Guinea.
