Imbogu candidate Pila Ninigi who was arrested last week in Mendi and charged for being in possession of the electoral roll says this was an assassination to his reputation.
He said he had the Imbongu rolls in his possession to check if his name was on and to find out how many people were in this electorate.
Mr Niningi said he bought the roll at the Electoral Commission office in Port Moresby while visiting the Electoral Commissioner Mr Andrew Trawen.
He says police in Mendi lacked knowledge on the accessibility of the electoral roll and misled people by abusing their power.
Mr Trawen confirmed this on Thursday, June 28, saying that electoral rolls were public documents that were available for anyone to access.
