Business PNG – Episode 26, 2014

This week’s episode of Business PNG features PNG’s biggest retailing network, City Pharmacy Limited Group.

The company along with its partners have opened a number of outlets in the new Waigani Central complex, and will be opening several more in the next couple of months. Ventures such as the new Do-It-Yourself concept store, Haus Depot, can be seen as a risk in this economy but the company is adamant on taking risks and facing the challenges that come with it.

Also on this episode, we visit TepTep in the Morobe province; a rural station struggling to build a local economy from their agricultural Produce. Lack of road link to supply fresh vegetables and fruits to Urban Markets in Lae and Madang has eliminated their chance for cash flow. Their coffee trees have been neglected for the last ten years, because it’s expensive to carry dried beans on third level airplanes.
