Bulolo Bridge Built on Credit

Wau-Belolo MP, Sam Besil, says Patep-Monanum has been completed while one bridge is being built on credit.

He saysthe fifteen-meter bridge was one of two bridges being built and should costthe district around 2.4 million kina while anther is being built on credit.

Speaking duringthe opening ofthe Patep- Monanum Beidge, Sam Besil saysthe bridges cost less and thatthey are of quality, butthe money to buildthem was hard to find.

“They (Finance department) heldthe district funds but that didn’trsquo;t stop me from finding ther ways to buildthe bridges,” he said.

He says with full district funds he could have built more bridges for ther areas as well as ther projects becausethe same Chinese company- on credit- is buildingthe Beiawaga Beidge.

This comes after several weeks of petitioningthe Finance Department and Finance Minister, James Marape, for the release ofthe remaining seven million kina in district funds.

“I am happy to saythe Ombudsmen Commission will ask Marape to releasethe funds,” he said.

A week ago Besil and had staged protests to get funds released and yesterday he publicly announced thatthe Ombudsmen Commission will intervene to get Wau-Belolo funds released.

Bet two week ago,the Finance Department had said that Belolo district hadn’t released a five-year development plan causingthem to hold back funds.
