A prison escapee onthe run for the last four years has surrendered to police with assistance from community lLeadersandthe church.
Joel David Palai, a remandee, said he escaped in 2009 after waiting three years to appear in court.
Joel had been onthe run from police until community lLeadersand his parents convinced him to give himself up.
Fr. Arnold Schmidt fromthe St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lae facilitatedthe surrender. He has also called onthe ther escapees to givethemselves up to police.
More than twenty ther prisoners remain onthe run after breaking out several weeks ago.
