The BSP PNG Barramundis require another 280 runs, with 6 wickets in hand, for victory on the final day of the four day Intercontinental Cup match against Afghanistan at Sharjah Stadium, United Arab Emirates.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Afghanistan slumped to 5/97 at lunch on Day 1 thanks to a brilliant opening spell by Barramundis fast bowler, Chad Soper.

Afghanistan though hit back in their second innings, with the mayhem continuing after lunch on Day 3 with them Afghans reaching a whopping 540 runs.

The middle order did the damage for Afghanistan with centuries to Mohammad Shahzad (116), Hashmatullah Shahidi (112) and Asghar Stanikzai (127). Sese Bau remained the best of the Barras bowlers taking 2/50.

In reply the Barras began their run chase losing early wickets with openers Tony Ura (18) and Vani Morea (14) canned cheaply.

The Barras finished at stumps on day three at 4/110 with Assad Vala (33) and Mahuru Dai (27) not out.

The final day will resume play at 9:45am, (3:45pm PNG time).
