NRL Preview: Broncos and Storm Showdown

By Dion Kombeng – EMTV Sports, Port Mresby

The Brisbane Broncos will take on the might of the Melbourne Storm in the opening match of Round 26, the final regular round prior to the finals series, tonight at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

The Broncos currently sit atop the NRL ladder with the Sydney Roosters, with both teams on 38 points. The Storm, who currently sit in fifth, will be looking for an all-important victory to put them in with a chance of making a last-minute entry into the all important top four.

The Broncos will go into tonight’s match without star five-eighth, Ben Hunt, who has been ruled out due to injury.

This evening’s match will also be Justin Hodges last home game, so Brisbane will be looking to make sure he is given a memorable final match at Suncorp Stadium.

The Storm on the other hand are hitting their straps at the business end of the season, and are hot to try after a brilliant win last week against the Cowboys.

Despite not having champion fullback Billy Slater, youngster Cameron Munster has proven that he is capable of wearing the number one Storm jersey.

Tonight’s key matchup will be between the halfbacks, with Anthony Milford going up against the more experienced Cooper Cronk.

Cronk’s accuracy with his kicking game will be key for the Storm, but they will need to keep an eye on the illusive Milford who is dangerous when given enough room.
