By Fabian Hakalits – EM TV, Port Moresby

A young AFL player from the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Brendon Beno, contracted to play with the Coolangatta Club of Gold Coast, Australia, has encouraged youths to be committed in sports and refrain from alcohol and drugs.

Young Brendon, aged 20, from the Selau Constituency in North Bougainville, is currently under contract with the Coolangatta Club.

According to news sources on ground, Beno revealed that he was learning many things to become a professional, with commitment and discipline.

Beno was asked about his experiences and stated that he is learning many new things whilst on training overseas.

Bougainvilleans expressed gratitude to young Brendon Beno, as the autonomous region’s ambassador in sports, overseas.

Beno is another example of other Bougainvilleans who are keen in sports like PNG Pukpuks player, Hubert Tseraha, from Hangan in Buka.

These are young and energetic men who have the interest and passion in sports and are role models for young people.
