Education is the key to a brighter future and reading books plays a vital part in that. This was the key message during the closing of Book week celebrations at the Waigani Primary school yesterday.
Students displayed various literature works compiled during the week.
Waigani Primary located adjacent to the University of Papua New Guinea campus dedicated Friday to the importance of books.
Each grade set up stalls displaying works they came up with during the week. The literary pieces went from poetry about books, to short stories, and even auto biographies.
Deputy Principal Warema Toso told students to take reading seriously, because not only does reading improve literature levels but it also opens doors to endless possibilities.
In an orderly fashion the students were allowed the opportunity to view their fellow school mate’s exhibitions.
Mr Toso says although today’s generation has the advantage of the internet, nothing beats reading a hard copy of a book.

There was also song recited by a grade eight group that reminded everyone why educatio
