Villagers located along the PNGLNG project’s plant site in Central Province will soon have direct access to their royalty payments.
This follows a ministerial determination allowing for the opening of accounts for the affected villages.
According to Minister for Petroleum & Energy, Nixon Duban, this process will begin on the 4th of November.
He says following a consultation with stakeholders within project, including the department of Petroleum & Energy, a ministerial determination was made to commence the process to have monies for project landowners within Central province accessed.
The process will begin with an awareness in the five impacted villages – this will involve officials from the Department of Petroleum & Energy, MRDC, Kumul Petroleum Holdings, as well as BSP.
There are hopes that this process can be completed within the next few months.
