Basketball Coaching Clinic to Focus on Senior Coaches

PNG Basketball Association CEO Joel Khalu told EMTV sports that the Federation’s strategic plan for 2017 will focus on upskilling all coaches, and officials with first priority going towards the Senior players in preparations for the Melanesian Cup tournament.

He said straight after the coaching clinic, it will be game on for the seniors to attend organised tournaments to select the best players to represent PNG in the Melanesian cup competition.

He says while the attention is focused on the senior players, development programs will also be rolled out around the country as well as getting the junior players U15 and 17 in getting them organised for national championships.

He says while PNG Games have been deferred to the end of this year, this will give time to the federation to provide an opportunity to all officials to do a refresher course.

PNG will host its first Oceania Championships for Under 15s next year in Port Moresby.
