Barramundis Beat PNG A Team

The PNG Barramundis Team have proven to be a force to be reckoned with, by cruising over the PNG A Team in two T20 friendly matches on Friday in Brisbane.

In the first match on Friday, PNG Barramundis started strongly with Tony Ura top scoring at 49 runs, while Vice Captain Assad Vala hit 26 and Charles Amini 24, before the team posted 6 for 132 from their allocated 20 overs.

Damien Ravu at 3 wickets off 18 balls and Kabua Vagi Morea 2 for 11, were the best of the bowlers for the PNG A Mens Team.

PNG A replied with Hiri Hiri for 32, Riley Hekure 14 and Kohu Dai 12, all making good starts but not going on, the PNG A Mens Team who could only manage 8 for 102, from their 20 overs.

In the second match, PNG A Mens Team won the toss and took the field with Billy Maha 21 and Kohu Dai 17, getting to double figures before they were all bowled out for 98 runs after 19.1 overs.

PNG Barramundis again replied with Vice Captain Assad Vala, 59, and Charles Amini, 31, not out leading the team to victory by 9 wickets, while Alei Nao secured the only wicket for the PNG A Mens Team.

Both Teams are currently in camp in Brisbane before the PNG Barramundis head off for the Intercontinental Cup and World Cricket League in Netherlands, then onto the ICC World T20 Qualifiers in Scotland, while the PNG A Team return to the country ahead for the Pacific Games in July.
