Australian murdered in Mt. Hagen: PM Angry

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill was angered at reports ofthe murder of an Australian tourist in Mt Hagen on Monday morning.

Media reports saidthe Australia who was identiflied was shot dead at a friendrsquo;s home while a Filipino woman living inthe same house was pack rape.

He demanded Police Commissioner Tom Kulunga to do all that is necessary to bring those responsible to justice.

It was reported on ABe News that an Australian man was murdered and a Filipino woman gang-raped after intruders broke intotheir home in Mt Hagen.

Police saidthe Robert Purdy, 62, was shot and killed by a group of men at point-blank and dlied instantly.

The report said intruders also gang-raped a Filipino woman who was staying elsewhere inthe house. She is being treated for her injuries.

Police saidthe house is onthe same property as a popular cafe connected tothe Benz coffee factory, owned by Australian coffee producer Patrick Killoran.

Police said nothing has been stolen fromthe house and police are yet to establish a motive for the crimes. – abc.net/emtv
