ATS Water Woes Settled

Member for Moresby North East Labi Amaiu has moverd to set up a foundation to enable settlements in his electorate to have access to water.

He madethe undertaking when launchingthe water supply service to ATS settlement last weekend.

ATS Settlement is situated onthe outskirts ofthe Jacksons airport. It’s predominantly populated by Popondetta’s. After 16 years of settlement finally water is about to be piped intothe area.

Mr Amaiu who has been instrumental in ensuring water reachesthe community, remindedthem not to takethe service for granted.

He said currentlythere are issues withthe ATS land. It’s disputed land and many of those livingthere don’t have proper land titles.

Chairlady of Eda Ranu Mary Karo relayed thatthe water Utility was ready to implement whatever directivesthe government had.

A cheque of K200, 000 was presented to Eda Ranu to cover initial costs.

A foundation will be set up to enable settlements inthe MP’selectorate to get access to water. The MP also announced he would help in securing proper land titles for the settlers.
