PNG Athletics President Tony Green says the Kokopo Games has been a big benefit to Athletics PNG in providing an opportunity for grassroots athletes.
Mr Green reflected on the 2012 PNG Games which saw 700 athletes from 22 Provinces take part.
The Games have also consolidated the abilities of those already in the national squad..
Next year is Pacific Mini Games in Wallis & Futuna Islands and adds to the high level preparations.
