App For Melanesian Festival Of Arts & Culture

The Melanesian Festival of Arts and Culture has gone technology savvy.

The mobile application is designed for visitors attending the festival satellite venues in Port Moresby, Alotau, Rabaul, Wewak and Mt. Hagen.

It contains maps and information on how to get to the venue from wherever you are.

The National Cultural Commission, with assistance from the Tourism Promotion Authority, created the application.

The mobile application is called MFAC2014 and can be found at App Store for iPhones and Google Play Store for Android phones.

It allows visitors to share pictures and comMen’s on the venue and activities. If you are new to the city, the application will give you navigational instruction and a street map to get you to the venue from wherever you are.

It contains programs for each venue, including Port Moresby. The application can be updated in the daily to get the latest information.

Listed are close to 100 of the available accommodation, attractions, tour operators, taxi service and hire cars in Port Moresby, Mt. Hagen, Wewak, Kokopo and Alotau.

All accommodation providers, tour operators and hire car services were selected based on the following criteria: valid email addresses, website and affiliation with TPA tourism industry associations and accreditation projects.

The application is free and can be downloaded onto any android and iPhone device to be used offline and shared on Facebook.
