APEC Expo for PNG Business Women

By Bridgette Komatep – EM TV, Port Moresby

Fifty Papua New Guinean business women are set to showcase their products and handywork during a three-day Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting on Policy Partnership of Women in the Economy.

This meeting is part of a series of meetings which will be held as a lead-up to the main APEC Leaders’ Summit in 2018.

The exhibition is supported and organised by the PNG Focus on APEC Women’s Economic Empowerment Secretariat which is further supported by the PNG APEC Secretariat that comes under the Prime Minister’s Department.

These women were selected from a mini expo held earlier this year. They will be privileged to showcase their products and businesses to women from 21 economies who will be in the country to attend the three-day meeting, this weekend.

Some of the organisers of the exhibition include Linda Sincha Paru, the Executive Director of PNG Focus on APEC Women’s Empowerment, Julie Wapo, the Director of Trade and Investment within the PNG APEC Secretariat and Janet Sape, founder and President of PNG Women in Business.

The exhibition, to be staged this weekend at the Holiday Inn Cassowary Park, is a strategic move by organisers to expose and connect these businesswomen to the APEC womenfolk who represent the global markets.

The exhibition will coincide with the Policy Partnership for Women Economy that will commence this Sunday 3 – 5 May.
