APEC CEO: Infrastructure and accommodations will be finalized this month

Port Moresby is one month away from the APEC Leaders’ summit to be held in Port Moresby and the APEC Chief Executive Officer Christopher Hawkins says infrastructure in the city like roads and hotel accommodation will be finalized this month.

While 280 officials are attending a briefing this week, on what will happen on November 17th and 18th for the APEC Leaders’ Summit.

Leaders from APEC member countries are expected to arrive on the 17th of November and then be greeted by Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, at the APEC House where the official family photo will take place.

The Leaders’ Summit will be held the following day on the 18th.

The APEC CEO says public holidays proposed for the 17th and 18th are yet to be Gazetted by the National Executive Council.

Meanwhile, the Jacksons International Airport is under construction to have holding Bays for the aircraft of APEC leaders.

The Hilton Hotel is scheduled to host a Gala dinner for the leaders on the 17th, and some roads in the city are yet to be finished. As for the 2000 media expected to attend and cover the APEC meeting, the International Media Centre that will be based in the Taurama Aquatic center will be set up 2 weeks before the Summit.
