Ande’s Dream For Karate Comes True

Sarah Ande has a passion for Karate and dreams that one fine day; she will be representing PNG overseas.

Her dream came true when she was selected for Melbourne Open Karate Championship.

Sarah is hard at training with the 2015 Train-on Squad here in Port Moresby.

The 25 year old lass from a mixed parentage of Milne Bay and Morobe, knows her kicks and punches, but there’s more to that.

She says it’s all about discipline when she took interest in the code of Karate.

Sarah says, though it’s a male-dominated sport, there’s a future for young girls willing to rub shoulders and throw punches and kicks.

For her, it’s a good feeling to represent the womenfolk while enjoying Karate at all levels.

Sarah says Karate helps her to have confidence in her work, and among her friends.

She has envisaged one day, being part of the national team and taking part in PNG Karate-do Federation Sanctioned Tournaments.

Her hard work, determination and courage has paved her way and now she is about to reap what she has sown.

She was selected with other athletes to participate in the Melbourne Open Karate Championship which will be held in March.

But for now, she’s enjoying training along with other athletes under the specialized coaches, including Karate Coach and Mentor, Sensei Trevor Roberts.

The 2015 Pacific Games is just around the corner, and Sarah will be hoping for a final spot to make her debut.
