The Alotau District Development Authority (ADDA) under the leadership of the Chairman of ADDA and member , Ricky Morris endorsed the Alotau District Housing Scheme Program to be rolled out during his term in Parliament. The aim of this program is to improve rural housing standards in the district.
The Alotau District Housing Scheme Program was launched at Daio Ward over the past weekend with the Keynote Speaker , Leader of Opposition Douglas Tomuriesa , accompanying him were MP for North Fly, James Donald and Member for Alotau Open, Ricky Morris.
Local mother from Daio LLG , Lindy Oivo thanked the Minister and said her dream of owning a home has become a reality through this housing scheme.
“I am Thankful and appreciate the Honrable Member Ricky Morris for helping me withthis project. Because Ive struggled many years and not succeded and now I am very grateful for helping me with the walling and roofing sheets for my house” beamed a happy Oivo.
MP Morris outlined that, ADDA will be distributing 24 sheets, 12ft roofing or panel rib walling, equivalent to the cost of roofing to interested residents within the seven Local Level Government in Alotau Urban, Huhu, Suau, Weraura, Makamaka, Maramatana and Daga LLG respectively.
In addition, Alotau District will provide 2 chainsaws to every ward plus the housing plan and the materials list.
Cooper Tobessa from Daio also thanked the Minister and mentioned that the cooperation of the DDA will help locals reliant, “For driving this agenda for the locals because this project is touching the locals . Now they can have money in their pockets to meet what ever demands , education , Health , custom , they don’t need to run to the member for everything“, said Tobessa.
The attending ward councilors for Ealeba Zone received the chainsaws, the housing plan and material list at Daio Ward on Saturday to kick start the housing projects.
