Aitape-Lumi Presents Its District Development Plan

Yesterday,the local lLeadersofthe remote Aitape-Lumi district in West Sepik presentedtheir District Development Program Plan 2014 to 2018.

 

The plan, which focuses on infrastructure, was handed over tothe Acting Secretary for the Department of Implementation & Rural DevelopmentoPaul Sai’i.

The presentation was made inthe presence ofthe Member for Aitape-Lumi and Minister for Forests and Climate ChangePatrick Pruaitch.

 

Local lLeadersof Aitape-Lumi know only too wellthe difficultiestheir people face on a daily basis.

 

District Administrator John Ainep saidthe district plan was home-grown and capturedthe needs ofthe people, and is an end product of contributions made by people atthe local level.

 

Minister for Forests and Climate Changend member for Aitape-Lumi Patrick Pruaitch said plans were needed for implementation to be effective, becausethey underpin expenditures.

 

Paul Sai’I, receivedthe Development Program Plan on behalf of Minister Charles Abel.

 

First Assistant Secretary for National Planning Jacob Ariman said development plans were a guide for districts on how money from grants can be spent on development priorities.

 

Mr. Pruaitch saidthe district administration under his lLeadersip, has now taken positive steps to alleviatethe hardships ofthe people of Aitape-Lumi, and have in place a more effective development strategy.
