Air Niugini reduces fuel surcharge

Air Niugini wishes to advise the traveling public that the airline has reduced its fuel surcharge for the domestic and international sectors, effective as of yesterday, Saturday 28th July 2012.

Air Niugini Chief Executive Officer, Mr Wasantha Kumarasiri said the decrease is due to drop in the prices of crude oil on the world market.

He said all domestic sectors will see fuel surcharge reduced by K10.00 per sector. The new surcharge for most domestic sectors has now been set at K115.00 per sector except for Port Moresby/ Buka and Rabaul/Lihir sectors whose surcharge is set at K135.00 per sector. Fuel surcharge for these sectors have also been reduced from K145.00 to K135.00 per sector. POM/Buka and Rabaul/Lihir sectors have very high fuel costs.

Fuel surcharge for Port Moresby/ Brisbane, Port Moresby/Sydney, Port Moresby/Singapore and Port Moresby/Nadi have been reduced by US $45.00, whilst Port Moresby/Cairns saw a reduction of US $12.00, Port Moresby/Manila US $10.00, Port Moresby/Honiara US $30.00 and Port Moresby/Narita US $20.00 per sector. 

The new surcharge for POM/Brisbane, POM/Sydney, POM/Singapore and POM/Nadi is at US $170.00 per sector, POM/Cairns (US $80.00), POM/Manila (US $ 115.00), POM/Honiara (US $250.00) and POM/Narita at US $150.00 per sector.
