Papua New Guinea’s premier airline, and national flag carrier, Air Niugini, has recently been certified with an International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certificate after successfully passing the program last month.
The IOSA certification audit is an internationally recognised and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline. IOSA uses internationally recognised audit principles and is designed to conduct audits in a standardised and consistent manner.
Airlines are re-evaluated every two years.
Upon attaining this recognition, Air Niugini has become the only IATA IOSA certified PNG airline operator within the country.
Chief Executive Officer, Simon Foo, shared the certificate with Civil Aviation Safety Authority-PNG Director, Wilson Sagati, in Port Moresby last Friday.
“It is not an easy audit as internationally recognised quality audit principals were used to conduct the program in a standardised and consistent manner. We are pleased to know that Air Niugini has successfully passed the program again,” Foo said.
He also acknowledged the extensive role played by CASA PNG and its staff in helping Air Niugini over the years to obtain the highest level of Operational Safety Standards as recogniaed by IATA.
