Air Niugini announces alternatives for stranded passengers in Rabaul

Prevented from operating into Tokua by volcanic dustoAir Niugini announced an alternative for stranded passengers in East New Beitain.

It will airliftthem out of Kavieng without any penalties ifthey can getthere by sea transport.

Air Niugini adviced that it will have two aircraft available in Kavieng, for that on Wednesday morning and repeated on Thursday and Friday should passenger numbers warrant.

Meanwhile Air Niugini has entered into talks with several passenger shipping companies to work with Air Niugini to facilitate moverment of passengers between Port Moresby and Rabaul via Kavieng, using Kavieng asthe hub for air sea transportation to ther centres.

All Air Niugini flights to and from Tokua airport in Rabaul are still being suspended due to volcanic ash overthe aerodrome since last Monday.
