Air Bag Saves Legal Officer’s Life

By Theckla Gunga – EM TV, Port Moresby

A legal officer with BSP Bank has sustained minor injuries after the vehicle he was driving crashed into the Five Mile roundabout in Port Moresby.

The legal officer, whose identity was withheld, was travelling home after shopping late yesterday evening when his vehicle was hit by a Land Cruiser.

This caused the legal officer to lose control of his vehicle and he drove onto the nearby drain edge and right into the drain.

He was saved by the airbag in his vehicle.

Bradly Toto who was at the scene said the Land Cruiser that hit the small Hyundai raced off after the driver realised that he caused the accident.

“I was on the other side of the road when the crash occurred,” Bradly said. He said when his brain registered the accident, he ran into the drain from the opposite side of the road and pulled the legal officer out.

“The driver was shocked and speechless when I pulled him out,” said Bradly.

Police officers arrived moments later and guarded the vehicle throughout night. The vehicle was removed from the drain today.
