AIBA Boxing World Championships: Keama vs Koryun

The AIBA Boxing World championships kicked off on the 5th of October in Doha, with one of Papua New Guinea’s elite boxers, Charlie Keama, taking part.

He will be fighting in the 52kg division to qualify for a spot in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Over 250 of the best boxers in the world, representing 74 nations worldwide, are taking part.

Charlie Keama carried the PNG flag with pride during the opening ceremony, and was escorted by coach, Joe Aufa.

The first preliminary matches kicked off yesterday, with boxers going head to head.

Charlie will compete in his first bout this evening against Koryun Soghomonyan from Armenia. The winner of this match will face Mohamad Flissi from Algeria.

The AIBA Boxing World Championship will end on the 15th of this month.
